Greetings, all who view this document.

My name is Dan Moyes. I am a genuine member of the baby boom generation at age 60 this month.

My wife, Glenda, and I were both born in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1950, but we didn’t meet until the mid-1960s. In August of 2010, we will celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary at home near San Antonio, Texas. And, we are empty-nesters!

I grew up on a farm and ranch in the Snake River Valley of Idaho. The cold winter weather there and the hard work of farm life never appealed to me. After graduating from Valley High School in Eden, Idaho, I joined the United States Air Force, where I trained in the environmental sciences at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, the Canal Zone College, and the University of Maryland. I was awarded an Associates Degree in Environmental Sciences from the Community College of the Air Force in 1986, a B.S. in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix in 2002, and certification as a Certified Environmental Compliance Manager from Columbia Southern University in 2004.

The Air Force provided me the opportunity to travel and to learn as I had never imagined. After mastering the basics of my career field, I served for three years as a technical instructor to both enlisted and officer recruits. Later, I served as a consultant on environmental, safety, and occupational health matters to commanders. For two years I managed a 14-person professional environmental consulting staff located in Okinawa, Japan. My team provided expert consultative services to all Department of Defense and Department of State units in the Pacific. Specific areas in which I was fortunate enough to gain training and experience include industrial hygiene, radiation protection, environmental compliance, pollution prevention, the psychology of learning, instructional methodology, laboratory automation, chemistry, physics, biology, and information management.

During a 21-year career in the military, Glenda and I lived and served in Panama, the Philippines, Japan, and Italy, as well as in Texas and California. San Antonio became our favorite place to live, so we settled here to put down roots in 1992. Eight of the twelve grandchildren are close, so we get to enjoy them, but are free of daily childcare responsibilities. Does it get any better?

I love to read mysteries, comedies, and spy thrillers. Other interests include hiking and sightseeing in general. On television, I generally watch the Travel and History Channels. Jeopardy is a guilty pleasure. I have always loved cars, and have owned many sports cars, motorcycles, and other impractical toys. I am currently without a toy. My 2007 Yamaha V-Start 1300 Cruiser was totaled in May of 2009 (I was not hurt.)

I am now a minority owner of and work as an environmental consultant and program manager for Labat Environmental, Inc. (www.labatenv.com). My chosen career keeps me from standing still too long. Since joining Labat, I have worked in Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy, England, Canada, and many of the 50 United States. I average 15 or so round-trip flights per year. While I love the work and the travel, I also very much enjoy being at home.
